Porsche 911 (Typ 964) - Das Tor zwischen Vergangenheit und Moderne
Parallel zur auslaufenden G-Serie kam im Modelljahr 1989 die neue Generation des 911 auf den Markt. Der 911 Carrera 4 des Typs 964 bestand zu 85 Prozent aus Neuteilen, behielt aber die klassischen Formen seines Vorgängers größtenteils bei. Er war in den Karosserieformen Coupé, Targa und Cabriolet verfügbar.

Trotz weitgehender Übereinstimmungen des Designs, verfügte der 964 über eine erheblich bessere Aerodynamik als das G-Modell. Dazu trugen insbesondere die neuen, rundlich geformten Bug- und Heckteile sowie ein automatisch ausfahrbarer Heckspoiler bei.
Ab Modelljahr 1990 war mit dem 911 Carrera 2 die baugleiche Hecktriebversion (erstes Modell mit Tiptronic)

When Porsche debuted the 964 in 1989, it was arguably the largest step forward for the 911 since it first went on sale 25 years prior. It marked a series of firsts for the model, such as the introduction of the Tiptronic automatic gearbox and an all-wheel drive system available on the Carrera 4. Porsche claimed the 964 to be 85% new compared to its predecessor, the Carrera 3.2, and is the first 911 with integrated plastic bumpers, rather than the accordion-style impact bumpers, which had been commonplace since 1974. When the 964 first went on sale to the public in 1989, it was only offered in Carrera 4 guise, with the rear-wheel drive Carrera 2 becoming available the following year. Although the 964 was looked down upon for many years as sort of an undesirable middle ground between classic and modern 911s, over the last 10 years, people have done a 180 on this opinion. It is now widely acknowledged that the 964 sits in the perfect sweet spot, offering the driver involvement of a classic 911 with many of the creature comforts and reliability people look for in more modern classics.

This 1989 Carrera 4 is from the first year of production for the 964 and is finished in Baltic Blue Metallic over a blue leather and cloth interior. Under the care of 4 owners from new, this Carrera 4 shows 83,987 km at the time of cataloging and is in excellent overall condition. This car is fitted with a 16” set of Porsche Design-90 wheels and looks great sitting at stock European ride height. One of the many firsts on the 964 was the now commonplace electronic rear spoiler, which raises and lowers based on speed or at the push of a button in the cabin. From the factory, this example was fitted with few options, making it more desirable among collectors today, thanks to its lighter weight and lack of complexity. One of the few things on the specifications sheet is a rear window wiper, which is extremely useful- especially if you plan to take advantage of the all-weather traction afforded by the all-wheel drive system.

The interior of this Carrea is in beautiful condition and remains largely original throughout. The seats are wrapped in deep blue leather, but the centers are fitted with an elegant and comfortable Porsche branded cloth. As this is a first-year car, it was produced prior to the requirement for a driver airbag, meaning that it retains the 4-spoke steering wheel from the outgoing 3.2 Carrera, which both looks better and feels much nicer in the hands than the later unit. A modern Kenwood head unit has been installed which offers USB and AUX connection as well as a CD Player. In this car, air conditioning was fitted. The 964 was the first 911, and the A/C on an air-cooled 911 actually felt like it did something, offering plenty of cooling even on hot summer days.

Sitting behind the passengers is a 3.6 liter naturally aspirated flat 6, rated at 247 horsepower and 228 lb-ft of torque. Although that doesn’t sound like much in modern terms, it was enough to propel the 964 from 0-60 mph in 5.5 seconds and on to a top speed in excess of 160 mph. This is then run through a 5-speed manual transaxle with power sent to all four wheels. This was the first Porsche outside of the 959 hypercar to be fitted with all-wheel drive, which made the car exceptionally surefooted in any weather but still gave a classic sports car experience thanks to the 31/69 front/rear power split. One of the largest changes on the 964 was the introduction of coil springs instead of the torsion bars that were fitted to all previous 911s. Using MacPherson struts up front and semi-trailing arms in the rear, the 964 offered more tunability and far more predictable handling at the limit.

If you are in the market for a classic car that you can also drive daily, a 964 Carrera 4 checks essentially every box. A great driving car that is comfortable and convenient to use, with the added practicality of all-wheel drive, means that you can enjoy your fun car year-round. This example, presented in a fantastic color scheme and so well kept, will provide years of enjoyment for whoever is fortunate enough to park it in their garage.

Trattandosi di un'auto del primo anno, è stata prodotta prima dell'obbligo dell'airbag per il guidatore, quindi conserva il volante a 4 razze della Carrera 3.2 uscente, che ha un aspetto migliore e offre una sensazione molto più piacevole alle mani rispetto alla successiva. È stata installata una moderna unità principale Kenwood con connessione USB e AUX e lettore CD. Su questa vettura è stato montato il climatizzatore; la 964 è stata la prima 911 a offrire un buon raffreddamento anche nelle calde giornate estive.

Dietro i passeggeri c'è un 6 cilindri in linea da 3,6 litri ad aspirazione naturale, con una potenza di 247 cavalli e una coppia di 228 lb-ft. Sebbene non sembri molto in termini moderni, era sufficiente a spingere la 964 da 0 a 100 km/h in 5,5 secondi e a raggiungere una velocità massima superiore a 160 km/h. En août 1989, Porsche présente donc la remplaçante de la 911 Carrera 3.2L, disponible uniquement en transmission intégrale. Stupeur chez les porschistes (qui rime avec puristes) ! Malgré tout, l'appellation Carrera 4 peut laisser espérer qu'il y aura une 911 Carrera 2. En effet, Porsche mise gros sur sa nouvelle génération de 911 et ne peut se priver de sa clientèle d'habitués. Sort donc dès l'année suivante, peu de temps après la commercialisation de la Carrera 4, la 911 à 2 roues motrices (Carrera 2). Esthétiquement, les deux voitures semblent identiques, à l'exception bien sûr du logo sur le capot moteur.
Les mauvaises langues et néophytes diront même que depuis la 3.2L, seuls les boucliers ont évolués... En réalité, il ne faut pas se fier aux apparences, car la 911 type 964 est nouvelle à 85%. Sur la fiche technique, la différence entre C2 et C4 s'en tient à une baisse de poids de 35 Kg - entrainant une modification de la répartition plus conforme à l'esprit 911 avec 40% sur l'AV et 60% sur l'AR.
Le flat 6 de la Carrera 2 est strictement identique à celui de la Carrera 4. Sur ce point là, pas de jaloux. Rappelons donc simplement que ce 3,6 litres fournit 250 ch à 6100 tr/mn et 310 Nm à 4800 tr/mn pour un poids annoncé de 1350 kg. La culasse qui était initialement fixée directement au bloc moteur sans joint de culasse a posé des soucis d'étanchéité se soldant par des fuites d'huile sur de nombreux modèles jusqu'en 91. Innovation inspirée de la compétition, le double-allumage a lui aussi apporté son lot de mésaventures par la faute d'un distributeur mal étudié.
L'année 1992 représente une année pleine de mouvement pour la 911 Carrera 2. Pour commencer, les moteurs sont revus après avoir connu de nombreux soucis de jeunesse. L'étanchéité est renforcée, le volant bimasse change de fournisseur (LUK) et les distributeurs de double allumage refroidis pour éviter les casses de courroie.
Porsche commercialisera la 964 sous 3 carrosseries, coupé, cabriolet et Targa, toutes commercialisées en 2 ou 4 roues motrices. Il n'y aura que 844 exemplaires de 964 Carrera 4 Targa de produites.
Cette 964 C2 cabriolet a été livrée neuve en Allemagne en janvier 1991 dans cette configuration Rouge Indien intérieur cuir gris. Elle arrivera en France en avril 1991 avec 4 280 km, date à laquelle elle sera acquise par son premier propriétaire français, sous l'immatriculation 797 JMLX 75.
Le second propriétaire en fera l'acquistion en 1997, immatriculée alors 448 BMJ 92 et s'en séparera en 2000 auprès du troisième propriétaire français, désormais sous l'immatriculation 6288 VB 76. Ce dernier conservera l'auto jusqu'en 2018 ou l'auto sera acquise par le dernier propriétaire francais.
L'historique de l'auto est donc limpide, son kilométrage est tracé depuis le 1er jour et TOUTES les factures d'entretien sont présentes, l'historique débute avec la facture d'achat en France en avril 1991 pour un montant de 420 000 Francs.
Elle est équipée des options suivantes : siege sport gauche électrique, siege sport droit électrique, ordinateur de bord et régulateur de vitesse.
Elle est en parfait état de présentation et n'a jamais été accidentée. La peinture est majoritairement d'origine avec des épaisseurs de l'ordre de 100 microns, seuls capot avant, aile avant gauche et porte gauche ont eu un petit voile de peinture (épaisseurs max 250 microns) en 2000 chez Porsche.
L'intérieur est en très bel état, les cuirs ne sont pas abimés ou marqués. Cette auto a toujours été très bien suivie et fonctionne parfaitement.
Une grande révision sera faite pour la vente.
