Story

The W152 was designed in 1985 to specifically recreate the 1950's era of the last of the great front-engined Formula 1 cars. It is not a replica but a truly unique classic design which has been widely accepted in the classic car world, and has gained a superb reputation over the last 30 years. The car has high performance with compliant suspension and steering combined with excellent engineering giving a unique thrilling experience in driving a classic two seater road/racing car. It is a visually impressive car having the same wheelbase and track as the Jaguar XJS, and a comfortable driving position - a truly unique classic design for the discerning driver.
The W152 has undergone chassis hydrapulse testing and also seatbelt testing to EEC certification standards in the 1990's.

Chassis

Jigged and MIG welded chassis with CDS and ERW tubular backbone chassis. Chassis includes all the predrilled fixing points and fixings for the bodywork, handbrake and cable, fuel pipes, brake pipes, differential mounting, suspension arms, anti-rollbar, radiator, battery tray, earth studs, steering rack and column mounting, seat belt anchorage and rear body roll cage, wing stays.

Bodywork

The bodywork comprises six GRP sections already aligned and jigged with all fixings ready to be bolted to chassis. The body panels consist of a main monocoque complete with bulkheads and safety rollcage. This steel tubular roll cage is pre-bonded and jigged with the rollover bar integrated within the headrest. This forms part of the rear rollcage structure which extends to provide side impact and front scuttle roll cage protection. The rollcage also provides the outer and upper seatbelt anchorage points. The center monocoque body work is easily fitted by two people within minutes and the remaining panels need not be fitted until towards the end of build allowing for very easy access for building the car. The kit also includes wings and wing stays.

Caratteristiche
Nata come aggiornamento della MK I, la prima berlina del Giaguaro con scocca portante, la MK II venne
presentata al Salone di Londra del 1959. Quest’ultima beneficiando di importanti migliorie a livello meccanico
e stilistico si affermò ben presto come una delle auto inglesi più ambite e prestigiose.
Il detto “buona la prima” non è sempre valido: nella seconda metà degli anni 50 le Jaguar 2.4 e 3.4 Litre, note con la
denominazione (retroattiva) Mark I, a fronte di un telaio di concezione moderna delusero le aspettative, soprattutto dal punto
di vista dinamico. Sir William Lyons, patron della Jaguar, decise dunque di correre ai ripari apportando alcune modifiche
mirate a un progetto di per sé molto valido. E, durante la kermesse londinese nell’ottobre del 1959, venne svelata una delle
Jaguar più amate di sempre: la Mark II, MK II nel gergo degli appassionati.
Lo stile. A prima vista la MK I e MK II erano molto simili, le differenze si concentravano infatti al di sopra della linea
di cintura: l’intero padiglione venne rimodellato. Ne risultò in aumento del 18% della superficie vetrata, ottenuta con i
montanti anteriori più sottili e il lunotto più ampio. I montanti posteriori, più tondeggianti, prendevano la caratteristica forma
a “D” Jaguar della portiera posteriore mentre nuove cornici cromate donavano importanza alla vista laterale. La griglia del
radiatore fu aggiornata, parallelamente agli indicatori di direzione e le luci di stop e fendinebbia. L’impianto di riscaldamento
venne riprogettato integrando delle canaline per il vano posteriore. Infine, venne adottata una nuova disposizione
della strumentazione, ripresa su tutte le vetture Jaguar prodotte fino alla seconda serie della XJ, lanciata nel 1973.
Bella e veloce. La Jaguar Mark 2 era una berlina dalle linee seducenti e dalle prestazioni piuttosto elevate per i suoi tempi.
Sir Lyons in una nota pubblicità, presentava l’ultima nata in casa Jaguar con questo slogan: “Grace, Space, Pace” (grazia,
spazio, andatura), in riferimento alle principali qualità del modello.
La MK II era equipaggiata con l’avanzato motore sei cilindri in linea “XK6”, declinato in tre versioni: 2.4, 3.4 e 3.8 litri.
L’unità di base, pur indicata come 2,4, con una cilindrata di 2.483 cc era più prossima ai 2,5 litri e poteva erogare 120 CV.
Di ben altra caratura il 3,4 litri da 3.442 cc, capace di 210 CV. Al vertice della gamma il 3,8 litri da 3.781 centimetri
cubici e 220 CV, pensato principalmente per il mercato americano.
Su tutte le varianti era prevista la trasmissione prevedeva un cambio manuale a quattro marce, con la prima non
sincronizzata. A richiesta erano disponibili l’overdrive opzionale oppure un cambio automatico a tre velocità.
Sulla 3.8 Litre era presente anche un il differenziale autobloccante Powr-Lok.

Wat had het kunnen zijn! 

Jaguar heeft nooit een MK VII drophead coupe gemaakt maar dat weerhield een enthousiaste Jaguar medewerker (oud hoofd werkplaats jaguar fabriek) er niet van om er eentje te maken. 

Deze Jaguar is compleet opnieuw gerestaureerd en aangepast zoals Jaguar hem zelf had willen uitbrengen. 

Het chassis is compleet aangepakt ( verstevigd vanwege verwijderen dak )  en opnieuw gepowdercoat. De motor ( bij restauratie bijna nieuw) is geupdate dmv het plaatsen van een verdeler en nieuwe dynamo. 

Wel  is de oude 3 bak vervangen naar een ZF 4 versnellingsautomaat. Het dak is op maat gemaakt door een classic restauratiebedrijf in Perth, Engeland. 

Het dak is hydraulisch te bedienen en alles is netjes weggewerkt achter de bank.  De auto is hierna compleet overgespoten in Aston Martin Racing Green. 

Deze Jaguar is in uitmuntende staat en een geweldig renderende investering.

What could have been!

Jaguar never made a MKVII village head coupe but that didn't stop an enthusiastic enthusiast from making one. The car has been completely restored and adapted as Jaguar had done itself. Among other things, the chassis has been completely overhauled (reinforced due to roof removal) and powder coated again. The engine has remained completely standard except for the installation of a distributor and alternator. The old 3-speed gearbox has been replaced by a ZF 4-speed automatic transmission. The roof was custom made by a classic restoration company in Perth, England. The roof can be operated hydraulically and everything is neatly concealed behind the bench. The car was then completely repainted in Aston Martin Racing Green.
